LCDR James H. Lamey

James (Jim) Hazzard Lamey, 79, of Virginia Beach, Va, departed this world with dignity and grace, at home, on September 4, 2021. He was born in Arlington, NJ on August 22,1942 to the late Robert H Lamey and Helen G Lamey.

Jim lived most of his formative years in Victoria, Texas. After graduating from Texas Christian University, Jim joined the Navy and served his country proudly for 20 years as a Naval Flight Officer. During this time he met and fell in love with his wife of 54 years, Julia Hoff Lamey. Together they raised two sons and a daughter. After retiring from the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander, he continued to work with the Navy as a contractor during his second career. Jim lived a faith-filled life in service to God, his family, his country and his community.

Jim's memory will be cherished by his wife, Julia, his three children and their spouses James, Jr and Christy Lamey, Jason and Riley Lamey, and Hiroko and Philip Burch, his five grandchildren Julianna, Chloe, James Cael, Melissa and Michael, and his brother, Robert, his sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and many friends as well as his faithful companion, Buddy.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Dr, Virginia Beach. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at St Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach.

Interment will take place at a later date at Albert G Horton Jr Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
