LCDR Steven Philip Ambrose, USN (Retired) (November 2015)

Steven Philip Ambrose, of Holland, PA died on Thursday, November 5, 2015, at St. Mary Medical Center. He was 63. He was the husband of 33 years to Barbara Doherty Ambrose.
 
Born in New Britain, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Steve and Olga Rudek Ambrose.
 
Steve grew up in Newington, Connecticut and was a 1970 graduate of Newington High School. After High School he continued on to the University of Connecticut, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Biology - Chemistry. In 1974 Steve accepted a commission with the United States Navy, attending Naval Aviation Officer School and Flight Training from 1974-1976. As an accomplished carrier pilot, he had at one time landed on every aircraft carrier in the Navy’s
fleet. Steve continued his education and training with the US Navy at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, CA, receiving his Master’s Degree in Systems Technology. For over 20 years Steve faithfully served his country at various command locations including the Naval Air Warfare Center in Trenton, NJ where he retired from active duty in 1994.
 
After retiring from the Navy, Steve began his second career in Risk Management and Safety Engineering in the insurance industry. When he was not working, he loved going to the park with his dog Sophie, target shooting, and spending time with his friends and neighbors. He was known for his love of sharing prideful stories about his sons, often to their chagrin! Recently he began volunteering at St. Mary Medical Center as a driver.
 
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Brandon Ambrose and Christopher Ambrose, and his sister Audrey Tucker.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewings on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, and on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015 from 8:30 AM until his Funeral Service at 9:45 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road, (at Holland Road) Richboro, PA 18954. His Interment with Naval Honors will take place at 11:30AM in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
