CDR Jeffrey Dale Weddle, age 61, of Virginia Beach, VA, died Monday, February 6th, at Sentara Hospice House after a long hard-fought battle with esophageal cancer.

Mr. Weddle is survived by his beloved wife, Lee Ann (Mueller) Weddle, two sons: CJ Weddle, Jonathan Weddle, and daughter-in-law, Ariel Weddle. He also left behind two grandchildren: Colton Weddle and namesake, Cabot Dale Weddle. Jeff is also survived by his mother, Jean Weddle, of Wildwood, Florida and six siblings: Jeanie Weddle, Debbie Weddle, Judi Weddle, Jim Weddle, Jacque Weddle, and Janet Weddle, all from Washington State.

Jeff was a 1977 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. After commissioning, he served in numerous posts in the United States Navy throughout his 20 year career. Most notably, Jeff was the Commanding Officer of VAW-126 from Dec. 1992- Apr. 1994. He was extremely proud to have accumulated over 5,000 flight hours in the E-2C Hawkeye. Jeff retired from the USN in Feb. 1998. Later that same year, he joined Flight International where he was able to continue doing what he loved:  flying. During Jeff’s 18 year career at Flight International, he amassed over 11,000 flight hours in the Learjet. Jeff was also a Learjet Flight Instructor since 2006 and a Check Airmen since 2007, where he trained and mentored pilots junior to him.
