CDR James Charles Heidner, USN (Retired) (June 2011)

​CDR James Charles Heidner, USN, 68, died on June 11, 2011, at Walter Reed Military Hospital in Washington D.C. Jim was graduated from UC Berkeley in 1963, where he played varsity football. He joined the Navy, and after flight training, was designated a Naval Aviator, and in his career was assigned to VAW and VRC squadrons, including VAW-115, VAW-117 and VRC-50. Known as "Heids" (among other things) and liked by all his shipmates, his skills at the "Klondike" tables was legendary, and he was a superb aviator and a fine shipmate.
