Brandon W. Jackson (November 2017)

Structural Brandon W. Jackson died unexpectedly in Newport News on November 29, 2017 at the age of 32.

​He devoted his life to his family, career, and friends. He is loved by everyone, will be missed and will always be remembered.

He loved to go shark fishing and was an avid golfer. He played Little League (Phoebus LL) and High School (Hampton H.S.) baseball His dad taught him mechanics at a young age and he grew up, joined the Navy and became an Aviation Structural Mechanic. He started his Navy career assigned to The USS Ronald Reagan in San Diego California. He got a transfer to Norfolk which brought him back home. During his family time, he ensured that his children’s life experiences were diverse. He would help anyone who needed it. That’s just the Way he was.

From his Commanding Officer:

“You should be very proud of Brandon and his honorable service to our great nation. While assigned to VAW-126 as An Aviation Structural Mechanic First Class Brandon W. Jackson contributed significantly to the squadron’s mission of Providing combat ready aircraft, effective aircrew, and qualified personnel that are ready for tasking by higher Authority in defense of the United States of America. Brandon had an infectious personality and was an influential petty officer who made an impact on young Sailors and will be sincerely missed by his shipmates.

He was well liked by every member of this command and his loss is felt by all of us.

I am honored to have served alongside your son over the past two years. As I personally got to know your son, I quickly realized his innate ability to understand and relate to people. He was able to bring people together With his humor and compassionate personality. He quickly gained the friendship of peers and subordinates Alike and had a reputation as one of the finest petty officers in the command.”

Brandon is survived by his parents Chuck and Sharon, brothers Scott (Laura), Kristopher(Amber), Sister Toya Briggs, aunts/uncles Tiny Hebron(Clarence), Ronald Jackson(Adrienne), Ernest Higgs (Lessie), Celeste Carmody(Alan), former wife Maria and his children Zoe, Danny, and Tiny, grandmothers Tiny Higgs and Suzanne Huffines and a host of cousins other family members and friends.
