As a VAW-114 aviator 1967-1972, I'd like to see the squadron patch represent the early years of VAW-114. The accurate patch/decal is the one Jim Charnesky shows in the photos on this website.

Mike Navarro, as a former VAW-114 aviator, probably has that original VAW-114 patch too.

Is VAW-114 the only AEW squadron to have 2 official patches or decals during its life in the Navy?

Anyone have info on the VAW114(?) E2 that went down off the Kitty Hawk around 1969..I was a PN2 with VAW 112 on the Big "E" and had a high school classmate that was an AT on the flight. I would like to honor him in our high school museum if I can get the info...

In a couple weeks will be 78. Was in VC-11 from 1951 - 1955. We had the AD-4W (Sky Raiders). My cruises on, Boxer 1953, Hornet 1954 and Phil Sea 1955. Did you forget we old farts and our planes?
PS: Our officers were exceptional.

PPS:Bob Baker Might get his personal records from Naval Personal and they might have some info on his flight records.
I got my records and found more information than I thought possible.

Don't see very much on early deployments, but does anyone have info on a C2-A we lost from Cubi during 1969? It left one of the ships on the line with a load of passengers and soon went down with all hands. No wreckage was found. I had several friends on board.
Also, have any of you ever worked on C2-A #59, one of the first of her kind? I helped put her back together after she was cannabalized at Atsugi. We all cheered when she finally flew away to be rebuilt. AMH2 White

I think it would be a nice addition for historical purposes to list the Home Port for each of the VAW/VRC squadrons. As best I can remember: VAW 11,13,VAW111, VRC 30 were at North Island NAS, Ca:
RVAW 110, VAW 112,113,114,116,117 were at North Island(NI) NAS then Miramar NAS, Ca;
VAW 115 was at Atsugi NAS, Japan; VRC 50 was at Atsugi, JA, NI NAS, Cubi Pt. NAS, PI and finally Anderson AFB, Guam;
R/VAW 120,121,123,124,125,126 and VRC 40 were at Norfolk NAS, VA;
VAW 77 at NAS Atlanta, Ga.
Thanks/R

Great site, gentlemen!
Ron James & Gary Meadows--I'm one of the Hawgs from the 76-79 timeframe.
I'm curious about the inverted text on the headers & the port side links, though...
